HOGG'S HOLLOW Preschool and Kindergarten was established in 1975 by Rose Hogg to provide the ideal environment for her son Robert and his friends. Although Robert graduated many years ago, Rose thoroughly enjoys working and playing with the new friends who arrive at Hogg's Hollow each year. |

OUR
PHILOSOPHY is that
children are people just like anyone else but with small bodies. They should be treated with the same respect that we give adults. For example, when children communicate, we listen and acknowledge their thoughts and ideas. Excellent communication is the key to raising and educating happy, capable children. |
|
| OUR
VIEWPOINT is that
our children can be, do and have anything they want in life, but it will
be up to them to achieve their goals. We find that children do best when they get to earn things they want and also are allowed to help those around them. In this manner, children gain a sense of self worth and pride from jobs well done. |
| OUR
ENVIRONMENT is tailored to the individual needs of our
students. We provide activities that are involving by nature and
challenge 3 to 5 year olds to excel. We look for and cherish teachable opportunities, spurred on by the unfailing curiosity of our students. READING IS IMPORTANT. As each student shows readiness for reading, our reading tutor provides private lessons which enable the student to move forward in learning to read at his or her own pace. During this time, the reading tutor's attention is devoted to that student, so the student and teacher build up a rapport that can't be duplicated in a class of students. It is hard to overstate the advantages of this approach. Children respond to one-on-one reading lessons with great enthusiasm. Frustrations, such as not being able to ask questions because the teacher is talking to the class, are totally absent from this method. And when the teacher asks questions, the student gets to answer them all, building confidence in the process. We believe that reading is so vital to a child's future, it shouldn't be left up to chance. |
| OUR
STAFF are
caring, trained teachers who have a genuine interest in young children
and share a sense of purpose in helping to prepare the next generation
for their roles in life. We have found that the best way to encourage young children in their efforts to become more responsible and grown up is for the adults around them to set an excellent example. We are also committed to the professional growth of our staff, which we achieve through participation in educational conferences, workshops and seminars on children, teaching and education. |
| OUR PARENTS' involvement in school events is highly valued and encouraged. These are opportunities to promote communication and teamwork between teachers and parents. | ![]() |
